VINELAND — The estimated cost for a replacement city fire headquarters is increasing almost 30 percent to deal with extensive soil contamination at the roughly 4-acre project site, a finding that took local officials by unpleasant surprise.The City Council on Tuesday night introduced a $5 million bond ordinance, with a final vote scheduled for February. The money raised would be added to a $17 million bond ordinance finalized in December 2021.The city is raising all funding through bond ordinances.
